Abstract

This contribution aims on the one hand to give an insight into the increasing use of Extended Reality, paying attention to the immersive one (Virtual Reality), showing market growth of VR devices; on the other hand, it proposes a system called "ScanItaly" Project, aimed at the digitization of museum objects collected in public databases, for their use at 360 degrees in the Extended Reality under the totally free license of the Creative Commons, in order to allow the creation of immersive environments, of virtual museums or simply to facilitate the download of individual scans for educational purposes. The research perspectives that This project "ScanItaly" suggests range from the rethinking of museum didactics for all levels schools to the creation of inclusive virtual environments.
