Abstract

This contribution aims to propose an design perspective to ensure the full implementation of the Life Project for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), in line with the recent regulatory provisions introduced by Legislative Decree No. 62/2024. In this context, the contribution aims to illustrate field research using the focus group methodology on a sample of 23 components, which sought to analyse the issues inherent in the Life Project and propose actions to overcome the fragmentation of traditionally adopted interventions, outlining a systemic, integrated and multidimensional approach that values self-determination and active participation. The key points that emerged from the qualitative survey are illustrated: from the multidimensional assessment of the functioning profile, to educational co-design with all the actors involved, to the monitoring and periodic review of the pathway. In addition, a number of innovative operational actions are presented, such as the introduction of Life Project tutors, self-determination workshops and school-to-work transition plans, which make the project a transformative tool in educational, health and social contexts.
