No. 1 (2025)

Published aprile 14, 2025

Issue description

The first issue of 2025 of the Rivista Geografica Italiana opens with a methodological look at the lively field of study of legal geography, offering useful tools and coordinates for those wishing to do research in this area today. This is followed by three empirical contributions about very different contexts and issues, but which share a strong topicality and geographical relevance: the urban imaginaries linked to touristification in Palermo; the relationship between monetary poverty and multidimensional deprivation among children in Tanzania; and the challenges of environmental conservation in the protected areas of Brazil.

In the Opinions and Debates section, the issue features an interview-dialogue with Klaus Dodds, reflecting on the ‘boundaries’ of contemporary geopolitics, with a highly topical focus on the Arctic, and a Forum on the book “La città autistica” (The Autistic City) by Alberto Vanolo: a cross-reading that emphasizes the pioneering scope of this work.

The issue closes with four reviews that range across different themes: the geographies of federalism in the Risorgimento, decolonial thought, natural disasters as factors of political and social change, and the tensions between narratives and tourism practices in inland areas.
