CALL FOR SPECIAL ISSUES 2026-2027

2025-09-11

The journal Sociologia del lavoro invites Italian and international scholars, research groups,
and laboratory or research teams to submit proposals (individual or collective) for the Special Issues of 2026–2027.

The thematic scope of the proposals refers to the broad field that the journal has always
addressed: work as a dimension that cuts across different spheres of life and social experience, as well as a key factor in the development model of entire regions or countries. Proposals for monographic issues should be consistent with the editorial line, tradition, and scientific profile of the Journal, capable of introducing elements of originality and avoiding the repetition of already covered topics—except when contributing to the development, renewal, or deepening of existing debates. Proposals may, for example, address topics related to the formal or informal economy, analyzing industrial, domestic, service, or rural contexts. They may also privilege thematic approaches linked to fundamental coordinates such as space and time, or explore connections with other areas or aspects of society—for instance, social movements or forms of representation—or investigate the intersections with social stratification, considering elites, conditions of vulnerability, or other dimensions.

We therefore invite all interested parties to propose projects for monographic issues aimed at accounting for and critically questioning work as both an object and a subject of social transformations.

The journal Sociologia del lavoro is launching a call for four Special Issues, inviting scholars
to submit original and innovative contributions—whether theoretical, methodological, or
empirical—that can advance scientific reflection and encourage empirical research to explore previously neglected aspects or emerging phenomena. Preference will be given to proposals including a co-editor affiliated with a foreign institution.
Each Special Issue will consist of an introductory essay and 5–6 articles (in Italian or English), approximately 7,000 words each, selected through a call for papers and subject to a doubleblind peer review process. The editors of the special issues will collaborate actively with the Editorial Board throughout all stages of production, from managing the review process to carrying out the editorial tasks necessary for publication.

Proposals, in the form of a draft or short essay accompanied by a brief reference bibliography, must be submitted by November 15, 2025 to the following address: direzione.sdl@gmail.com.
The outcome of the selection will be communicated to applicants by January 17, 2026.
