This paper offers a critical reflection on the Italian National Action Plan for Mental Health (PANSM) 2025-2030 from the theoretical and methodological perspective of Community Psychology. Through an analysis of selected strategic dimensions of the Plan, it highlights both its strengths and its critical issues with regard to social and health care integration, prevention, participation, and the strengthening of community-based mental health services. The paper argues that the ecological, participatory, and empowerment-oriented approach that characterizes Community Psychology can enhance the effectiveness of the PANSM by promoting a conception of mental health as a common good, embedded in everyday living contexts and sustained by community and social networks.
