Uniche, remote e vulnerabili: il ‘bisogno di natura’ nella geo-grafia delle regioni insulari

Abstract

Il contributo discute il bisogno di un’idea di natura funzionale alla costruzione delle isole come luoghi geografici eccezionali. Questa riflessione teorica viene sviluppata facendo riferimento al campo degli studi insulari. Prima mostrando la relazione tra la natura e le categorie dell’insularità (nello specifico vulnerabilità, unicità e isolamento), in seguito proponendo alcuni modelli di isole che rappresentano l’esito materiale di questa relazione.
Natura e società sono poste in posizione dialettica per mostrare come l’insularità sia il
prodotto di processi culturali e politici che si fondano, anche, sulla separazione tra antropico
e naturale.
