Videos in Teachers’ Initial, Continuous and Life-long Training: Five Significant Experiences Towards a New Formative Model

Abstract

Many international and national teacher training courses include the use of video, which is a privileged tool to catch the processes that take place in the classroom: in the last fifteen years there has been an intensification of these experiences in different fields and geographical areas. In the light of the theoretical framework of the professional vision, the articles review focuses on five international and national experiences of teacher training, which in the diversity of epistemological setting and posture, concur to outline an initial, ongoing and continuing training course that makes use of the video tool in online mode. The survey, which does not claim to be exhaustive, wants to start an analysis on a possible training model that pays attention to the training referent and the observational criteria adopted. The studio is part of the 2019-2020 project of excellence “Quality teaching and teaching practices. Feasibility study for the development of a device for the study of teacher training practices” of the Department of Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the University of Turin.
