Welfare e Ergonomia adopts a multi-stage evaluation procedure in accordance with international standards for scholarly journals.

All submissions are subject to a preliminary assessment by the Editors and the Editorial Board, aimed at verifying their relevance to the journal’s editorial line and their compliance with its scientific standards.

With regard to the monographic section, the selection of contributions is structured in two stages.

In the first stage, the Guest Editors of the issue, in coordination with the Editors, evaluate the abstracts submitted in response to the call for papers. Abstracts are assessed on the basis of their coherence with the theme of the issue, their scholarly relevance and the overall quality of the proposal.

Authors of accepted abstracts are invited to submit the full manuscript and to upload it in anonymised form on the publisher’s OJS platform.

In the second stage, contributions that have passed the preliminary evaluation are subject to double-blind peer review. Each article is sent in anonymous form to at least two external reviewers. Reviewers provide their evaluations anonymously, substantiating their assessments and, where appropriate, formulating requests for revision. In the case of conflicting reviews, the Editors may request a third review.

With regard to the open section, contributions are subject to the same preliminary assessment and the same double-blind peer review process. Once accepted, articles are published according to the order of submission on the OJS platform.

Review reports are communicated to authors in all cases, including where the outcome is negative.
