The subject of the workshop is the design of a system of microarchitectures and spaces for the community (library, civic center, coworking, fitness trails) to be located in the south-eastern surroundings of Rome, on the margins of the residential district of Tuscolano and along the perimeter of the Park of the Aqueducts. The study areas belong to the portion of the Roman countryside closest to the historic city, characterised by a discontinuous and porous ensemble of ancient and contemporary infrastructures: the ancient aqueducts, but also the interventions that regulate metropolitan mobility today, the railways and the new forecasts, the enclosures and the residual spaces of contemporaneity. The limit in which the project is inserted is therefore not a “line” but a series of “spaces” in which different and heterogeneous signs confront each other, on which architecture is called upon to intervene by modifying the fragment, reconnecting the parts, reinterpreting the relationships.
