The relationship between agriculture and urbanization is today central to understanding metropolitan landscapes. The relevance of agriculture in shaping urban territory, translates into a demand for design approaches driving an effective renewal of landscape and planning instrumentation. Reconsidering agriculture’s ecological, economic, and social role, thus, opens a relevant space of reflection affecting the urban project at very different scales. Exploring this field is one of the main focuses of the Bari Costa Sud Plan. The ‘landscape city’ proposal, here discussed, integrates the renewal of peripheral neighborhoods with recovering agricultural production capacities and constructing a robust public environment.
