Abstract

Sport is today an essential factor in constructing policies for social inclusion. A particular context of application is that of prisons. The Italian jail system recognizes the value of sport as a re-socializing activity for the benefit of inmates. Still, sporting activities in Italian prisons remain a minority due to a deficit of space, equipment, and expertise. There is untapped potential, and new operational design knowledge is needed to activate it. Building and experimenting with this type of knowledge was the goal of ACTS, A Chance Through Sport, research. The outcome of this experimentation is the subject of the papers proposed in this section.
