Abstract

Introduction: Naltrexone is an opioid receptor antagonist approved for the treatment of alcohol and opioid use disorder. It has been explored off-label for the modulation of compulsive behaviors and impulse control.
In autism spectrum disorders (ASD), controlled studies have not shown consistent benefits on core symptoms; instead, heterogeneous results have been reported on associated behavioral manifestations.
Case presentation: We report two cases.

Conclusions: In selected patients with neurodevelopmental disorders and clinically significant compulsivity, naltrexone may be an off-label, symptom-targeted adjunct option; prospective studies with standardized measures are needed.
