The present research proposes an in-depth analysis of the digitisation pathway implemented by the ASST Melegnano- Martesana, with the aim of increasing the creation of value for the patients-users for whom the social health authority is responsible. The digitalisation of healthcare is a dynamic and perpetual process that is part of the broader context of the digitalisation of society. Digital technologies, which derive value from data and their processing, appear to be particularly well suited to healthcare, a sector that, due to its characteristics, produces and manages large volumes of data, some of which are sensitive and closely linked to patient-users. It is therefore evident that the objective of an effective digital health system must be multidimensional in nature, that is to say, it must be capable of reconciling the phases of data supply and storage, its processing and transformation into information that is useful for the company’s strategic objectives, for the social health company, all its stakeholders and, among them, the patients-users. Furthermore, the protection of such data from external attacks and malicious software, which would jeopardise the security of the company’s systems and of the patient-users themselves, is one of the challenges that the information systems of the health and social services company will have to face.
