Gender-based violence represents one of the most serious and frequent violations of human rights in contemporary society. Despite legislative and jurisprudential developments, a significant gap between formal and effective protection of victims remains.
This article examines the evolution of the Italian legislation regarding gender-based violence, analysing the main novelties introduced in the criminal and criminal procedure codes by the recent legal amendments.
