The first 1,000 days of life represent a crucial window for health and well-being across the life course. This contribution describes the process that led to the integra-tion of this perspective within the European Joint Action Prevent Non-Communica-ble Diseases (JA PreventNCD), with particular reference to Task 6.5 dedicated to the Baby-Friendly Community & Health Services. The article explores the role of parental responsivity, intersectorality, and multidisciplinarity, highlighting how groups and peer support represent key tools for health promotion in community set-tings. It also presents the collaborative experience between the Italian National In-stitute of Health (ISS) and Confederation of Italian Organizations for Analytical Group Research (COIRAG) as an example of integration between clinical, psycho-social, and public health knowledge.
