In this study we present the actuality of Paulo Freire’s works and praxis and its relation with rural education. We divide it in: 1- Introduction; 2- Paulo Freire; 3- Paulo Freire’s legacy on rural education; 4- Conclusion. We present the reasons and the importance of this article at this moment. Although it is not the focus of this research, we present the author and important facts of his work for the theme addressed in this article. We present Field Education, a brief reflection about the creation of degree courses in Field Education and Paulo Freire’s relation with Field Education. Finally, we address the importance of the author and his references for Brazilian and world education in the centenary of his birth.
