This contribution, based on an ongoing research, shows some reflections and critical aspect regarding leadership and middle management figures in the educational field, such as pedagogical coordinators. The latter ones are often required, among their several functions, to support ECEC professionals’ reflexivity. Considering that ECEC settings are experiencing a cultural transformation, the role of the pedagogical coordinator is more and more important and must be prioritized. It is a well-known fact that, to support the development of ECEC, it is necessary to design reflexive professional contexts. Starting from practices, these contexts can foster new knowledge and actions. The research the project involves a group of pedagogical coordinators and aims to identify new reflective practices to support the role. The research, using , using the action research model, is an example of how reflective processes can activate development and growth for all those involved in the research. In the light of reflexivity and adult learning theories, the author aims at stressing the importance of this specific transformative role. The agents of change, e. g. transforamative leaders and pedagogical coordinators, can operate for and with professionals working in the settings, by means of designed reflexive practices.
