This paper aims to explore the theme of self-writing as a formative and self-help tool. It investigates the use of reflexivity in the professional field as a strategic resource for professionals in their work practices. Writing about oneself is presented as a self-directed learning tool and as a mean for inner and emotional development, as well as cognitive education source. It can allow to foster a reflective self-analysis that broadens the narrative and reflective horizon from the personal dimension to the social, professional, and organizational ones. Literature on the topic is compared using qualitative empirical research. By following an autoethnographic approach and through journal technique, the self-writing experience is tested as a form of inner research starting from one’s own feeling and professional work.
