Abstract

In recent decades, reflexivity has taken on a central role in educational and training contexts, establishing itself as an essential tool for the professional growth of educators and pedagogists. This contribution explores the transformative potential of reflexivity, with particular focus on the method of social maieutics developed by Danilo Dolci. Through a theoretical and methodological analysis, the paper highlights how reflexivity can evolve from an individual process into a collective and situated practice, becoming a device for mancipation and social change. Dolci’s model, based on dialogue and active participation, emerges as a powerful tool for fostering critical awareness and transformative thinking. The study focuses on the experience of the Laboratory of Didactis of Social Inclusion at the Master’s Degree Program in Educational Sciences at the University of of Calabria, where Dolci’s methodology has been applied to promote a reflexive and transformative pedagogy. The results underscore the effectiveness of social maieutics in developing critical reflexivity among students and strengthening the professional identity of future pedagogists. This study offers a theoretical and operational framework for integrating good reflexive and participatory practices into the training of educational professionals, outlining new perspectives to address contemporary educational challenges.
