Abstract

This paper provides a synthesis of the several, significant articles received as a comment on the editorial by Antonietti et al. (2022) about the possibility and/or need to change paradigm to address and understand neurodevelopment disorders. The debate, together with reference to the relevant literature, has made it possible to highlight lines of change to address the complexity that characterizes the developmental trajectories at various levels of analysis. The multi-level approach is analyzed here through three constructs: 1) the biological and/or psychological vulnerability in interaction with the environment; 2) the development as an atypical organization of brain connections; 3) the procedural vision of reality. The proposed in-depth analysis starting from the choral comparison of the articles mentioned here allowed to highlight factors that are considered relevant for research, clinical diagnostic process and therapeutic intervention. Both academic and healthcare professionals training can be the way to promote knowledge and skills aimed at increased awareness of the change that is taking place.
