The present work studied the content and the structure of Social Representation (SR) of (dis)obedience. The aim of this study was understanding the relationship with the authority in a group of students of the Military Armed Forces.
In order to achieve this aim, an online self-report questionnaire was used. The analyzes were conducted on a sample of 389 people, coming from the military academy. The results show how the concepts of (dis)obedience are considered diametrically opposed: obedience has a positive connotation, connected to terms such as “respect”, “loyalty”, “trust” and, on the other hand, disobedience has a mostly negative meaning, connected to terms such as “disrespectful”, “negative” and “wrong”. These results support the hypothesis that the specific context has a strong influence in determining Social Representations.
