Abstract

The study of the relationships between physical activity and quality of life represents one of the areas of greatest interest for different psychological disciplines. Sports psychology, in particular, is a theoretical and practical area of social sciences where the contributions of sports sciences and psychological disciplines converge and integrate. In line with the current trends of Positive Psychology, the most recent approaches are now focused on designing the optimal functioning model of the athlete and to support and develop his/her growth and well-being. Within this framework the studies on peak performance and peak moments have been fundamental. Among these, the article highlights and discusses the centrality of flow experiences both in a theoretical and practical way.
