The article addresses the development of the psychology of intelligence from its inception to the present day in a historical perspective. Within this path the role played by one of the most eclectic and facetted Italian academic psychologists, Marcello Cesa-Bianchi, who, at the beginning of his long career, dealt with intelligence and tools to measure it, is highlighted.
