Una riflessione su come il perfezionismo può influenzare il percorso scolastico dei bambini e degli adolescenti

Abstract

L’obiettivo di questo articolo è quello di fare una riflessione critica sulla letteratura che ha approfondito, sotto diversi punti di vista, l’influenza del perfezionismo nel percorso
scolastico di bambini e adolescenti. Si tratta di una sintesi narrativa e non sistematica, finalizzata a mettere in luce le caratteristiche del perfezionismo che possono favorire l’apprendimento e quelle che, al contrario, ostacolano la vita accademica dei giovani, anche attraverso la comparsa di quadri psicopatologici o comportamenti disfunzionali come il self-handicapping e la procrastinazione. Vengono inoltre analizzate le possibili variabili intermedie fra rendimento scolastico e perfezionismo come ad esempio la passione per gli argomenti studiati e quindi la motivazione ad approfondirli. L’intento è quello di offrire una sintesi ragionata e accessibile a professionisti e operatori del settore, favorendo una maggiore consapevolezza del ruolo che il perfezionismo può giocare nel percorso accademico dei giovani.
